Bengaluru, January 7:
Minister Krishna Byre Gowda has directed the Assistant Commissioners (ACs) of Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, and Ramanagara districts to expedite the disposal of a large number of pending court cases in their jurisdictions.
Presiding over the monthly progress review meeting on court cases related to Assistant Commissioners held at Vikas Soudha on Wednesday, the Minister gave important instructions to the officers. He expressed displeasure, stating, “A total of 19,000 cases are pending in the Assistant Commissioners’ courts across the state. Of these, approximately 13,000 cases are pending in Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, and Ramanagara districts alone.”
“If a large number of court cases remain pending in the districts around Bengaluru, what is the point of holding meetings with officers from other parts of the state? Only 6,000 cases are pending in the remaining districts of the state. Only if the officers of these four districts accelerate their work can the overall state-level performance be questioned,” he said.
Reviewing the progress details of the four districts in the meeting, the Minister noted, “In October last year, 15,364 cases were pending in these four districts, which has now reduced to 13,610—a positive development. However, if missing records, cases not disposed of in the RCSMS system, unfit cases, and cases reserved for orders are cleared by the end of January, the numbers will improve further.”
“The Assistant Commissioners are aware of the challenges before them and possible solutions. Therefore, prioritize cases that can be easily resolved first. All cases pending for more than six months must be mandatorily disposed of by the end of March. Another meeting with these four districts will be held in the first week of February, and based on that, a date will be fixed for a progress review meeting with all AC officers across the state,” he informed.
Warning that failure to show improvement in these districts would render the statewide meeting of all Assistant Commissioners meaningless, Minister Krishna Byre Gowda directed the new Revenue Commissioner, Smt. Meena Nagaraj C.N., to conduct monitoring every Saturday regarding the pending cases in AC courts.
Principal Secretary of the Revenue Department, Rajendra Kumar Kataria, Bengaluru Urban District Commissioner Jagadish, and other senior officers were present at the meeting.
