Belawal Foundation’s One-Crore Tree Plantation Drive Receives Overwhelming Response

Date:

Bengaluru, Feb. 21: With the support of NGOs and corporate organizations, the Belawal Foundation has undertaken an ambitious mission to plant one crore (10 million) saplings across Karnataka and India. Numerous NGOs, corporate institutions, and volunteers have joined hands in this noble initiative. The large-scale environmental conservation effort has received an encouraging response.

Addressing a press conference, Sanjay Benawal, Founder and CDO of the Belawal Foundation, along with Kalyanamma, Founder of Pragati Foundation, urged everyone to plant at least one tree. They emphasized that this initiative holds immense significance in protecting Mother Earth and the environment, ensuring a healthy life and the right to breathe clean air. According to reports, by March 2024, a total of 86,308.44 hectares of forest land in Karnataka had been encroached upon. Therefore, afforestation has become an urgent necessity in the present time, they stated.

The Earth is now pleading for help, and trees stand as its silent guardians. Once covered in lush green forests, our planet today is suffocating due to excessive deforestation and pollution. With every tree that is cut down, we move one step closer to an insecure and lifeless future. Rising temperatures, polluted air, drying rivers, and unpredictable climate patterns are clear signs of nature’s distress, they added.

Trees are not merely plants; they are life-givers. Without trees, life on Earth is impossible. Tree plantation is no longer a choice—it is an urgent need of the hour. When we plant a tree, we plant life, nurture dreams, and shape a better future for our children. Planting a tree as a gift in the name of family members, friends, or great personalities—on occasions such as birthdays, wedding anniversaries, marriages, and other celebrations—is highly encouraged. Each sapling will be geo-tagged, and as policies evolve, carbon credits will be accumulated, they informed.
