Bangalore August 24; Karnataka Dalit Sangharsh Samiti has organized a congratulatory ceremony for the unity of the Scheduled Castes on Monday, the 25th, at Lidkar Hall
Speaking at a press conference, Dr. N. Murthy said that the congratulatory ceremony for the unity of the Scheduled 101 castes has been organized by the state unit of the DSS and RPI at Lidkar Bhavan Hall from 11-30 am. For the last 35 years, there has been a struggle in the state for the classification of Scheduled Castes reservation. Finally, the reservation of the Scheduled Castes has been distributed peacefully. The struggle for unity is inevitable and necessary in the coming days. We need to take a step towards a united struggle for the fulfillment of the divine purpose. In this regard, this unity-filled ceremony will be a historic milestone, he said, adding that many leaders who fought for internal reservation and the families of those who died in this movement will be honored and respected in this conference.
A program will be inaugurated by the D.S.M.S. and “Unity Awareness of Scheduled Castes” in every district and taluk center across the state for a year. This is what RPI intends to do. He said that all Scheduled Castes and like-minded people have been invited to this program.
The retired Justice Nagamohan Das Commission had given 1% reservation to 59 nomadic and semi-nomadic castes with a population of 5 lakh 22,099 in the state and gave first priority in the Category-A Group. However, the “Cabinet of Ministers” has revised and included the nomadic castes in the ‘C’ Group along with the dominant castes such as Bovi, Lamani, Korama, and Koracha.
Among the 101 Scheduled Castes, the most backward and unequal nomadic castes cannot compete with the dominant castes and get benefits. There is not even a single graduate from this caste who has received technical education. They are very backward in political and employment representation. This caste is begging, living a difficult life on the streets and in the forests. They have not even received a ration card. Therefore, they demanded that the nomads be separated from humanity and given first priority and 1% reservation be given.
