He performed Ganga Puja and offered water to the Krishna dam at Lal Bahadur Shastri Sagar in Alamattia today, organized by the Water Resources Department and Krishna Jal Bhagya Nigam Limited, and later spoke to the media.

A meeting was held with farmer activists in Belgaum earlier regarding the Krishna Upper River Project. The government has also agreed to this after everyone agreed to give the award there. The Deputy Chief Minister recently called a meeting with the farmers and MLAs of this area and discussed it, and the approval order has reached a stage. An agreement will be reached on the consent of everyone. This will be settled within the next week, he said.

If the gazette notification is issued, it will be convenient to raise the dam
In the third phase of the Krishna Upper River Project, by raising it from 519.6 m to 524.25 m, 130 TMC of water can be stored, which will be convenient for its use. 173 TMC of water can be provided to an area of ​​6.6 hectares. . A decision has also been made regarding the third phase, but the gazette notification has not been issued. If this is done, it will be convenient for irrigation and raising the dam, he said.

The concerned Union Ministers and the Prime Minister have been met three times on these issues. The Deputy Chief Minister has met five times. Irrigation is our priority area. Farmers should benefit. Our aim is to provide water to farmers’ lands, increase farmers’ products and improve their lives. We are making efforts in this regard, he said.

Although the offices of Krishna Bhagya Jal Nigam are in Vijayapura and Bangalore, it aims to work actively to improve the lives of farmers. The Chief Minister and I have the hope that the government should alleviate the suffering of farmers, save the Krishna water that flows into the sea in vain and use it for farmers’ agricultural activities, and this direction is being considered, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said.

Establishment of a medical college in every district of the state in a phased manner

Answering a journalist’s question about establishing a medical college in Vijayapura district, the government has a goal of establishing a medical college and a hospital in every district of the state. This goal will be achieved in a phased manner. In the 2025-26 budget, a decision will be taken to establish a medical college in Vijayapura after Bagalkot, Mangalore and Kolar. He said that a plan has been made to establish a medical college in every district in the state of Karnataka, and as per the guidelines of the central government, colleges should be built in private-public partnership and treatment should be provided at government rates, and action is being taken accordingly.

Replying to the media regarding the Center’s notification regarding UKP Phase 3, he said that pressure has been put on the Center several times to issue the notification as soon as possible. He said that the work will be started after the notification is issued.

Recommendation for elections through ballot papers

Reacting to the media regarding Minister H.K. Patil’s statement that the central government has rigged the voting process in relation to EVMs, the Election Commission will be recommended to conduct elections through ballot papers in local body elections to avoid confusion and disputes over EVMs. He said that various countries of the world have abandoned the EVM system and have resorted to ballot papers again.
