Government’s Amrutha Sarovar Mission: Use of Kannapurahatti Lake soil for National Highway: Farmers oppose

Date:

Villagers’ anger against DNR company

Mudgal: Farmers have expressed anger over the DNR company’s move to use fertile lake soil for the National Highway in the name of Amrutha Sarovar Mission.

Water accumulates in the lake at S.No.94 in nearby Kannapurahatti during the rainy season. But in such a situation, the DNR company, which is constructing the National Highway, has obtained an order from the District Collector to construct a lake under the Amrutha Sarovar Mission for their own benefit. Water is already accumulating in the lake yard, which is in good condition. But due to the greed of the contractors

and middlemen, they hurriedly started removing the soil in the lake through Itachi on Saturday. Hundreds of farmers who came to the spot after learning about this removed the machine. The company builds 15-20 feet deep pits with the sole purpose of getting a road surface. Due to this, the fertile lands get waterlogged and the fields around the lake where crops are grown become barren. This is a situation where farmers have to suffer losses. If the soil of the lake, which is located next to the road and is the lifeline of the farmers, is removed and a large depression is created, people and livestock will have to lose their lives. Therefore, there is no need for the Amrutha Sarovar Mission project for a lake that is already filled with enough water. This project should be canceled immediately. And instead of the Amrutha Sarovar Mission project, the villagers demanded that a project to fill the lake with water from the Krishna river be approved. On this occasion, Shankrappa Meguru, Hanumantha Jalihala, Devappa German, Vinoda Gudimani, Remanna Nayaka, Amaresh Bisanal, Amariah, Huseneppa Hulagappa Harijan, Shankarlinga and many others were present.
