Belagavi December 09: Minister Krishna Byre Gowda criticized that the problem for BJP leaders is that they did not find any problem to embroil the ruling party in the House.
On Tuesday, the Question Hour was supposed to begin as scheduled in the assembly session at Suvarna Soudha. However, Opposition Leader R. Ashok and MLA Ashwath Narayana moved a resolution demanding a discussion on North Karnataka issues before the Question Hour.
At this time, Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, who openly condemned the behavior of the opposition leaders, said, “The problem is that the BJP leaders did not find any problem. That is why they are asking for a discussion on the problems of North Karnataka before the Question Hour. However, according to the rules, there is no room for any discussion before the Question Hour. The government itself has suggested that the problems of North Karnataka be discussed after the Question Hour. However, why is the opposition party arguing about this?” he criticized.
At this time, he also recalled the past history of the House and said, “BJP leaders have a high selective memory. Earlier, when the BJP was in power, when Vishweshwar Hegde was the Speaker, he himself had said that ‘there should be no discussion on any issues during the Question Hour.’ However, today, it is not right for BJP leaders to flout this rule.”
Meanwhile, expelled BJP MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal intervened and said, “It is not right for some people to postpone the Question Hour for prestige. Every MLA has an important question about the development of their constituency. I have also asked a star-marked question about the Bhadra Upper River Project. In such a situation, it is not right to postpone the Question Hour. Let the problems of North Karnataka be discussed after the Question Hour.”
Senior Minister H.K. Patil said, “We agree to the discussion of North Karnataka problems. This discussion has already been included in today’s agenda. We have no objection to starting this discussion before the Question Hour. That decision is up to the Speaker’s discretion,” and agreed to the demand of the opposition leaders.
Finally, Speaker U.T. Khader granted the Question Hour.
