Bengaluru: The Samata Sainika Dal (SSD) staged a massive ‘Tamate’ (Drum-beating) protest in front of the Regional Commissioner’s office, alleging large-scale encroachment of government land and storm-water drains (Rajakaluve) by the Prestige Group.
The protesters alleged that the Prestige Group has illegally occupied government land in Doddabanahalli village, Bengaluru East Taluk. They demanded immediate legal action against the owners of the Prestige Group. Furthermore, the SSD urged the state government to suspend Bengaluru Deputy Commissioner Jagadish and East Taluk Tahsildar Rajeev, accusing them of being complicit in the encroachment.
Speaking at the protest, Dr. M. Nagesh, State General Secretary of the Dalit Movement, stated, “The Prestige Group has a pattern of encroaching upon government and poor people’s lands across the state for their projects. Despite numerous cases, the government has failed to take strict action.”
Key leaders including G.K. Gopal (Bengaluru City General Secretary), G.C. Venkataramanappa, G. Govindaiah, Manjunath, and several others participated in the demonstration to voice their demands for justice and land recovery
