Demand for sanction of traffic and rural police stations for Lingasugur

Namma Karnataka Rakshana Vedike has submitted a petition to the Home Minister of the Karnataka government with the aim of providing adequate police system for Lingasugur town and the villages under its jurisdiction. This petition has been submitted through the Assistant Commissioner of Lingasugur, demanding the establishment of traffic police stations and rural police stations in the town.

The petition submitted under the leadership of the taluk president of the forum, Thimmareddy Munnoor, mentioned that the number of accidents and theft cases are increasing day by day due to the increasing traffic congestion in Lingasugur. “Since there are 58 villages and 18 thandas under the jurisdiction of Lingasugur police station, the public has to come to the city from far away to lodge complaints. A rural station is necessary as a permanent solution to this problem,” it said in the petition.

They have also demanded the installation of traffic signals near the Basavasagar Circle, Bus Stand Circle, Clock Circle and Post Office in the town. Permanent police deployment has also been demanded for the safety of women at the bus stand.

The forum has demanded that the government respond to this demand from the perspective of fairness and peace, and has warned that an indefinite dharna will be organized if the demands are not met.
