Bengaluru, November 3 (Karnataka Varthe):
For the first time in Asia, the prestigious IEEE Radar Conference will be held in Bengaluru at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Whitefield, from May 1 to 6, 2027. The conference is being organised in India for the first time after being hosted in the United States and Europe, said Puneet Kumar Mishra, Vice President of IEEE Aerospace and Electronic Systems Society.
Addressing a press conference held at the Sheraton Grand Hotel, Whitefield, on November 2, 2026, Mishra said that a total of 231 experts will present their research papers during the six-day international conference. Nearly half of the participants are expected to be Indian researchers.
Golden Opportunity for Young Researchers
The conference will provide a major platform to showcase Indian technological capabilities at the global level. It will offer students, young scientists and technology professionals an opportunity to interact with and learn from international experts, Mishra said.
He informed that while the general registration fee for presenting research papers is around USD 1,000, it has been reduced to USD 100 for Indian participants. The last date for submitting research papers is November 30, 2026.
Global experts at the conference will discuss emerging areas including cognitive technologies, Artificial Intelligence (AI), communication technologies, space technology, weather applications, future satellites, global security and the role of radar technology in modern electronic warfare systems.

Radar Technology Crucial for Future Warfare: DRDO
Speaking on the occasion, DRDO Director General B.K. Das said that the conference will provide an excellent platform to showcase India’s achievements, particularly Bengaluru’s contribution to radar technology, and highlight the talent of young scientists on the global stage.
He said that Artificial Intelligence has entered every sector, and the radar field is also facing new challenges due to AI advancements. With the increasing use of small drones in battlefields, radar technology will play a crucial role in addressing future warfare challenges, he added.
AI Integration Essential for Advanced Radar Systems
LRDE Director Sheikh Alaf said that radar technology was earlier mainly used in defence and aerospace sectors, but its applications have expanded significantly in recent years.
He emphasised that the integration of Artificial Intelligence with multi-mode radar operations has become essential in the present era for advanced and efficient radar systems.
