Sri Mundaragi Nagaraj, Chairman of the Dr. Babu Jagjivan Ram Leather Industries Development Corporation (LIDKAR), met with Smt. Key Highlights of the Strategic Discussion:

  • Expansion of Facilities: A formal memorandum was submitted outlining the need for “Charmashilpi Bhavans” for cultural activities and the extension of basic amenities to nomadic settlements.
  • Mainstreaming Nomadic Communities: Chairperson Pallavi G. emphasized the “Tent-Free Karnataka” initiative, which aims to provide permanent housing and identity documents like Aadhaar and Ration cards to nomadic families.
  • Government Commitment: The meeting aligned with the vision of PWD Minister Satish Jarkiholi, who has consistently advocated for bringing backward classes into the mainstream through targeted financial assistance and infrastructure projects.

The chairpersons reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that government welfare schemes reach the “last person in the queue,” specifically focusing on the 99 identified nomadic communities and thousands of leather artisans across the state
