A major civic crisis has emerged in Bidarani village of Shahapur taluk in Yadgir district, where the vital road connecting Bidarani and Ibrampur villages has been submerged under stagnant sewage water, causing severe hardship to residents and commuters.
The road, which serves as a crucial link for villagers, has turned into a breeding ground for health hazards due to the failure of the drainage system. Overflowing sewage from blocked and silt-filled roadside drains has accumulated on the road, making daily travel extremely difficult for school-going children, women, farmers, elderly citizens, and vehicle users.
The situation has raised serious concerns among villagers as the stagnant sewage water has remained on the road for several days, creating unhygienic conditions and increasing the risk of mosquito-borne diseases such as dengue and malaria.
Public Health Risk Due to Neglected Drainage System
Residents have expressed concern that the continuous accumulation of dirty water and waste could lead to the spread of infectious diseases. The foul smell emanating from the sewage has made life difficult for people living nearby, while commuters are forced to pass through the polluted stretch every day.
During night hours, the poor condition of the road has reportedly caused difficulties for two-wheeler riders, with some facing the risk of slipping and sustaining injuries due to the slippery and waterlogged surface.
Villagers Accuse Authorities of Ignoring Repeated Appeals
Local residents alleged that they have repeatedly brought the issue to the notice of the Gram Panchayat authorities and elected representatives, but no permanent solution has been provided so far.
“Despite several appeals, the problem continues. Officials have only been giving assurances without taking concrete action,” villagers said, urging immediate intervention from district authorities.
Urgent Action Sought from District Administration
Villagers have appealed to senior officials, the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj authorities, and elected representatives to conduct an immediate inspection of the spot, clear the blocked drains, and take permanent measures to ensure proper drainage and road maintenance.
They warned that if the long-pending issue is not addressed at the earliest, they would intensify their protest demanding accountability and basic civic facilities.
Villagers including Devindrappa Gowda Bidarani, Hanamanthray Biradar, Sharangowda Biradar, Mallappa Nedigi, Hanamanthray Bidarani, and Chandrashekhar Hanigera have demanded immediate action to restore safe and hygienic conditions on the Bidarani–Ibrampur road.
