Moot Court shapes advocates by strengthening skills and etiquette
ICFAI Law School, Bangalore proudly inaugurated the 1st Shri N. J. Yasaswy Memorial Moot Court Competition 2026 on 27th February 2026. The three-day national-level competition is being held for three days till 1st March 2026, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s continued pursuit of academic excellence and advocacy training.
The competition is organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Muddu Vinay, Pro Vice Chancellor, IFHE Bangalore, and Prof. (Dr.) Rajashree Patil, Head of the Department, ICFAI Law School, Bangalore. The event is instituted as a tribute to the legacy of Shri N. J. Yasaswy, the Visionary Founder of the ICFAI group of educational institutions, reflecting the institution’s enduring commitment to quality legal education and professional excellence.

The inaugural ceremony was graced by the Hon’ble Mr. Justice Ravi V. Hosmani, Judge, High Court of Karnataka and Administrative Judge for Davanagere District attended as the Chief Guest. In his inaugural address, His Lordship emphasized the indispensable role of moot court exercises in shaping competent advocates by strengthening research aptitude, analytical reasoning, advocacy skills, and courtroom etiquette. He encouraged students to view mooting as a foundation for professional integrity and excellence in litigation practice.
The event was further honoured by the presence of distinguished Guests of Honour, Prof. (Dr.) Suresh V. Nadagoudar, Vice-Chancellor (Acting) and Registrar, Mahatma Gandhi Rural Development and Panchayat Raj University, Gadag, Karnataka, .and (Prof.) Dr. Sandeep S. Desai, Professor and Dean, Amity University Bangalore. Their addresses inspired participants to approach moot court competitions not merely as contests, but as rigorous academic engagements that effectively bridge the gap between legal theory and courtroom practice. And also emphasized on importance of language for legal professionals and guided students on practical procedures.
The competition has attracted enthusiastic participation from teams representing reputed law colleges and universities across the country. The presence of eminent institutions has significantly elevated the competitive and academic standards of the event, fostering a vibrant environment of intellectual exchange, professional networking, and experiential learning.
