Bengaluru, Oct. 14: The Karnataka government has released ₹2,482 crore towards the 33rd installment of the flagship Gruha Lakshmi scheme, aimed at providing monthly financial assistance to women heads of households across the state.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar has officially released the funds, which are expected to be directly credited to the bank accounts of around 1.24 crore eligible women beneficiaries within the next two days, according to State Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority Vice-Chairman Dinesh Gooligowda.
Since the launch of the scheme, the government has successfully transferred ₹64,000 to each beneficiary through 32 installments. With the release of the latest installment, the total financial assistance received by each woman under the scheme will reach ₹66,000.
The cumulative expenditure under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme has now touched ₹79,433 crore, reflecting the government’s continued focus on women’s economic empowerment and financial support to families.
Dinesh Gooligowda said the monthly assistance has become a significant support system for families, particularly during challenging times marked by drought-like conditions and economic pressures in several parts of the state.
The release of the installment ahead of the Dasara festival is expected to bring relief and happiness among women beneficiaries. He also expressed gratitude to Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar for strengthening the welfare initiative aimed at improving the financial stability of women from poor and middle-income households.
