Bengaluru: Member of the Legislative Council Basangouda Badarli on Wednesday met Karnataka Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar at Vidhana Soudha and appealed for immediate steps to safeguard standing crops during the monsoon season by ensuring availability of the required water from the Tungabhadra reservoir.
Badarli, accompanied by Kannada and Culture and Backward Classes Welfare Minister Shivraj S. Tangadagi, who is also the Chairman of the Tungabhadra Irrigation Advisory Committee, requested the Chief Minister to hold discussions with the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister and secure permission for utilizing the required water to support farmers.

He highlighted that farmers in the Tungabhadra command area have cultivated various crops during the monsoon season, but the shortage of water has created concerns over crop protection. He urged the government to take necessary measures through coordination with Andhra Pradesh to ensure timely water availability.
Badarli said that prompt action by the state government would help prevent crop losses and provide relief to farmers dependent on the Tungabhadra irrigation system.
