Heavy rains damage Jewargi stadium – Poor workmanship blamed

Date:

Kalaburgi: The recent heavy rains caused heavy damage to the stadium in Jewargi city of the district, with some parts of the stadium building collapsing and damaging it, causing concern among the public.

The fact that parts of the building were damaged even by a little rain and wind has raised doubts about the quality of the work. Locals have alleged that this situation has arisen due to poor workmanship, negligence of officials and lack of proper supervision.

It is unacceptable that government buildings constructed with public tax money are damaged in this way. There is a suspicion that crores of rupees of public money of the government have been wasted due to the negligence of contractors, concerned officials, public representatives and MLAs.

The public has demanded that a thorough investigation be conducted into the incident, the quality of the work be checked and strict action be taken against the guilty. It is also felt that the safety of the people and protection of public property is the prime responsibility of the government.
