Bengaluru, May 1-Backward Classes Welfare and Kannada and Culture Minister Shivraj Thangadgi said that a plan will be taken to translate and publish the Tipitaka scriptures, which are considered sacred scriptures of Buddhism, from Pali to Kannada.
He was speaking while inaugurating the state-level Buddha Jayanti ceremony organized by the Kannada and Culture Department at the Nagasena Buddha Vihara in Sadashivanagar, Bengaluru today.
The teachings of Lord Buddha are more relevant now than ever, and in this era when humanity is immersed in excessive desires and violence, the principle of peace taught by Lord Buddha and his compassion for humanity are very important. He said that it is our responsibility to convey those principles to today’s students and the next generation through books.
Apart from this, the work of protecting and reconstructing Buddhist monuments is very important, our government has already taken up this work and started it with enthusiasm. He said that efforts will be made to implement it as soon as possible.

The thoughts of these three great men, Buddha, Basava and Ambedkar, are the same, he said, if a person follows them, his life will be meaningful.
It is not good to limit any great man to a single community, these great men do not belong to any one caste, class or community, they have taught the right path to the entire world, said Minister Shivraj Tangadgi.
Shri Bodhidatta Bhanteji of the Indian Buddhist Mahasabha presided over the divine presence.
Tasutesamma Jathono of the South India Buddha Sangha was present.
Secretary of the Kannada and Culture Department J Manjunath and Director of the Kannada and Culture Department Dr. B S Manjunath Swamy participated in the ceremony.
President of Nagasena Buddha Vihara Dr. M Venkataswamy., social activist N. Murthy, were present.
On this occasion, Dr. Vaddagere Nagarajaiah and Prof. M. V. Ushadevi gave a lecture on Lord Buddha. Joint Directors of the Department Shri Balwantrao Patil and Shri Ashok Chalawadi were present.
Representatives of various Buddhist associations and Buddhist monks of Mundagoda participated in this event.
