Music is not just entertainment, it is the symbol of our culture: Preeti Honnagudi

GADAG: Music is not merely a source of entertainment; it is a profound symbol of our rich cultural heritage and a divine medium that brings mental peace and spiritual grace, said Smt. Preeti Honnagudi, State Organizing Secretary of the Women’s Wing of Akhila Bharata Veerashaiva Lingayata Maha Sabha.

​She was speaking at the “Puttaraja Sangeeta Sambhrama-26” program jointly organized by the Dr. Pundit Puttaraja Seva Samithi (Reg.), Gadag, and the Department of Kannada and Culture, Government of Karnataka, at the S.V.T. Paramedical College Auditorium.

​Highlighting the legacy of Pt. Puttaraja Gawai, she stated that the late maestro attained divine grace through music and became widely revered as a “walking and talking God.” Through the Veereshwara Punyashrama, he dedicated his life to musical service and elevated our glorious tradition. The disciples shaped by the Ashrama have taken Gadag’s fame to greater heights, she added, urging everyone to preserve and propagate classical music.

​Presiding over the event, Seva Samithi President Pt. Fakeereshwara Shastri Hiremath Bellatti lauded the cultural efforts. The event was inaugurated by Smt. Vanakshi S. Totagantimath. Dr. Santhosh Totagantimath of S.V.T. College appreciated the noble services of the Seva Samithi.

​Vijay Book Depot proprietor Vijaykumar Hiremath, Smt. Anita Totagantimath, and Smt. Sneha Hiremath graced the occasion as chief guests.

Musical Performances & Book Distribution:

The audience was enthralled by soulful performances, including a Harmonium Solo by Sukrusab Mulla, Violin Solo by Sanjaykumar Arkasali, Tabla Solo by Harlapura Nagendra Akkasali, Hindustani Vocal by Kumar Math Guttaragi, and Vachanagayana by Kritika Sharanyya Hidkimath.

​On the occasion, accomplished artists were felicitated. Under the free book distribution initiative by Kala Vikasa Parishad, academic books were distributed to two hundred students.

​Pt. C.K.H. Shastri Kadani delivered the welcome address and introductory remarks, while Kumar Hiremath proposed the vote of thanks.
